STATEMENT FROM ROBIN

When I started my journey into the world of web design, I asked my Dad and Michele if I could create their website for the Door County Scottie Rally. I wanted to build up my portfolio, and knew this site would be a good addition. The three of us never realized how HUGE this website would become: it not only grew in megabytes, but it grew in visitors...and created a unique virtual community.

This site wasn’t your basic information tool with text and photos: it reached out to Scottish Terrier lovers across the globe. When we looked at the statistics for this site, we were amazed and how many different States - and countries - viewed our pages.

My Dad and Michele often told me if it wasn’t for the website, they doubt they would have as big of a turnout as they do each year. A few years ago, I finally had a chance to see what this Scottie Rally stuff was all about. As a web designer, I don’t often get a chance to see what all my graphics and code are actually doing in the real world. Many Rally participants introduced them-selves and shared their doorcountyscottierally.com experiences with me. I never realized how much impact this site had, and was truly touched by all the genuine compliments I received.

Due to an overwhelming work schedule, I had to give up my part in the Scot-tie Rally World Wide Web.

I may not be owned by a Scottie, or fully understand the life-altering experiences many have had with these loveable lads and lassies - but I do know this: Shayna - and her kin, Monty and Molly– are deeply loved by my Dad and Michele. For this, I am extremely honored to receive The Spirit of Shayna Award. To me, this award signifies unconditional love for a dear soul that has brought so much hope and happiness to two people whom I love...and extends it’s promise to all of you.

I share my gratitude with all you Scottie lovers out there, who continually support and contribute to this amazing event. Since I can’t be there this year, please give your pups a kiss for me!
